Our Guest Minister for August 10, is Rev. Jim Borton. Rev. Borton and his wife Melissa have called New Philadelphia, Ohio home for the past 32 years. They have two grown sons, Luke and his wife Kirsten, who now live in Columbus, Ohio. Their son Joel currently lives in Nashville, TN and is engaged to be married in September.
Rev. Borton graduated from Cincinnati Christian University with a bachelor's degree in Ministry & Biblical Studies in 1984. He has been working with the 1st Christian Church in New Philadelphia for just over 30 years. He began as the youth minister of the congregation; served as the Lead Pastor of the congregation for 25 years and has recently transitioned into a new role as the "Connections Pastor". Rev. Borton also serves as the local High School Football Team as their Chaplain, and speaks at camps, retreats, and conferences.
When asked how he has managed to stay in one congregation for three decades, Rev. Borton has a simple response. "When I did something stupid that offended people, I apologized and asked for forgiveness. When people offended me, I got over it and forgave them."
