Meet Our Staff

Reggie Rushing

Reggie Rushing was chosen to be the first fulltime chaplain at Holden Beach Chapel in September of 2018. Previous to his coming to the Chapel, Reggie was the Senior Minister at Louisburg Baptist Church in Louisburg, NC for nearly 16 years. Additionally, he has an extensive background in church music as he began his ministry vocation as a Minister of Music. 

Reggie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Creative Arts degree in Music from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received his theological education from the Campbell University Divinity School where he received his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees.

Sandy, Reggie's wife, has a Bachelor of Music degree from the UNC-Greensboro School of Music. She has taught music in public and private schools and has served as the Director of Marketing and Development in Wilmington, NC for United Cerebral Palsy of North Carolina. She was also the VP of Advancement for Louisburg College in Louisburg, NC.

Reggie and Sandy have three adult children. Eldest son, Matthew, is a Family Medicine Physician in Greenville, NC and his wife, Karrie, is the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville. They have two children, Anna and Matthew, Jr.

Ernie, who has his PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, is the Director of Admissions at the School of Nursing at Duke University in Durham, NC. His wife, Meghan, is also employed at Duke University as the Public Relations Specialist for Undergraduate Admissions. They have a son, Luke.

Youngest child and only daughter, Molly, is married to Dr. Layne Wallace, pastor of Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Molly is employed as the Director of Public Relations and Marketing at Halifax Community College. She and Layne have two daughters, Ainsley and Abbie.


Sandy Rushing

Sandy holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from UNC-G and has extensive experience in Church Music Programs.  In addition to serving as accompanists at several churches, she has been the Director of Children's Ministries in multiple settings, in which her duties included directing choirs, ensembles, and instrumental groups.  She is also a licensed real estate agent but her favorite job is being Mimi to her grandchildren.


Marie-Pierre Fletcher
Choir Director

Marie-Pierre Fletcher was born and raised in Luxembourg/ Europe.

At a young age she knew that music would play an important role in her life.

At age 6 she joined a choir for children and youth, of which she became the assistant director at age 18 and later the choir director for over 20 years.

After finishing her studies in voice, piano and organ in Luxembourg, she went to Salzburg and  joined the Master Class of the renowned Bass Walter Raninger at the Mozarteum and completed her studies in directing.

After her studies she returned to Luxembourg where she taught kids with learning disabilities for 25 years.

Marie-Pierre was a soloist for multiple organizations throughout Europe.

She immigrated to the USA in 2013 and became the choir director of the Holden Beach Chapel Choir in 2017. She is also one of the directors of the Sea Notes Choral Society.

Since July 2017 she is also a US citizen.


Mary Rich
Bells Director

Mary has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from East Carolina University and a Master of Arts from UNCG. A retired dance educator and middle school principal, Mary began ringing handbells as a teen at Central United Methodist Church in Monroe. She participated in youth and adult choirs and later become an ensemble ringer. Mary has participated in and presented at several AGEHR events and attend the Handbell Director's Boot Camp in 2014. She has been the director of the Chapel Bell and Chime Choirs and Ensembles for six years.

Mary resides in Varnumtown with her husband Jim.




Deneesa Stafford
Administrative Assistant


Deneesa Stafford comes to Brunswick County from the mountains of Avery County, NC. She has one daughter, Jerrica, son in law, Donnie, one grandson, Hunter and a granddaughter, Jaelyn.

Prior to coming to HBC, Deneesa had 30 years experience working in various office settings, as receptionist, bookkeeper, secretary/administrative assistant and office manager. 

Along with spending time with her family, Deneesa enjoys meeting new people, spending time at the ocean and the mountains, crafting, reading, antiquing or 'junking' through consignment and second-hand stores.
